We get you.
Conexus measures success differently.
As a financial institution built on a co-operative model, you see the way that you interact with your members differently. After all, they are your owners. Because of this, your organization is driven by a singular purpose, rather than outcome. When your shareholders are your customers, you have the ability to galvanize your organizational accountability in a way that only other organizations could only dream of.
But driving organizational value through purpose is hard. You need to attract and retain the right people who believe what you believe- who see the world in the same way that you do. Finding and keeping those who believe what you believe about your members can be a difficult task, and when your people don't share your vision, your purpose ultimately becomes fuzzy for all. When that happens- you lose your competitive advantage.
What you told us.
When we met with Shaulen and Becki, they shared with us many of the changes and challenges that Conexus is facing at the moment. We heard about a need to re-align organizational priorities to ensure that Conexus continues to be the proud and purposeful organization that you have always been- an organization that holds on to its community roots while also remaining capable of competing in the ever-changing financial services marketplace. With change comes new measures of success and new skill sets. Conexus now requires a workforce capable of evolving and rising to these new challenges.
In our initial meeting, you expressed a need to up your game in the area of attraction and recruitment - the need to find those diamonds in the rough that could easily connect the organizational purpose to their need to serve your members. Those unique individuals that understood the connection between quality of service and their impacts on the bottom line.
You came to us with a request to help develop a selection process that incorporates emotional intelligence (EQ) into your existing practices through a tool that can measure individual hiring. But when we scratched at the corners of that request, what we found was that there may be a bigger picture solution here, that could potentially change the way that Conexus attracts, engages and evaluates talent in a way that incorporates an evaluation of cognitive, affective and conative strengths.
You are looking for the kind of people who show passion in their work, empathy for those who they serve, and a desire to make the people around them better.
We can help with that.
We believe that we are uniquely positioned to provide Conexus with a custom-built solution that can help you achieve your desired outcome. Better yet, we think that if we do it right, we may be able to create something innovative together that can differentiate the customer experience for Conexus from it's competition through a servant leadership approach.
We think that through a fresh philosophy of how Conexus approaches the attraction and recruitment of its current and potential employees, Conexus can achieve a holistic evaluation of a candidate pool using an approach that measures how candidates think, what they do and (maybe most importantly) WHY they do what they do.
We've got the skills to help Conexus find people with the right stuff.
Between the three of us, we have over 20 years of direct attraction and recruitment experience that we can draw on to help Conexus with a solution that meets their needs. We've worked for, and with, some of Canada's Top 100 most admired employers as well as up-and-coming small businesses and non-profits to build recruitment solutions that fit their needs.
We've become well versed in implementing numerous tools and techniques to both assess and measure talent- from psychological and personality assessments to computer adapted design solutions that measure an employees ability to apply their knowledge. We've even coached hiring managers and staffing consultants to read and recognize candidate behaviours and instincts during the interview process.
We've even helped organizations build recruitment strategies, including representative workforce strategies and supported employment programs that help attract, recruit and retain employees that represent the customer base that they serve.
Because of this experience, we are well positioned to meet the needs of Conexus through this partnership.
We're a small boutique leadership firm. You're welcome! ;-)
Our belief is that there is no single solution or model that can be used to solve every issue. One size does not fit all; one size fits one.
We leverage the strengths of each of our partners to work with our clients using small teams that allow our approach to be extremely adaptive and customizable to the needs of the people we are seeking to serve. We involve our clients as partners in the process from day one, helping us truly understand their business. We believe in an individualized, person-centered approach that puts people at the center of our design, and helps transform our client’s organization.
Our design approach includes a strong focus on follow-up. We believe that one of the greatest areas where consultants fall down is the traditional practice of moving on before the desired outcome has been achieved. The boutique approach we have taken, is to build-in a small amount of post-development consulting time, so that we can ensure that what we have intended to deliver hits the mark and stays on track.
Through the use of this approach, we begin to establish organizational trust, understanding and the belief that everyone truly matters within the design of the business.
We geek out on brain stuff.
We have dedicated ourselves to creating a greater understanding of what makes people tick.
Although we are all different as people, we all have things that drive us.
There are three parts to the human mind- the cognitive (which manages your knowledge and experiences), your affective (which controls your emotional being) and your conative (a lesser known part of the brain, which measures your instinctual behaviour, as well as the values and beliefs that drive your motivations).
Each of these parts of your brain play a significant part in how you think, feel and act, and when all three are in a state of engagement, people are capable of amazing things.
Cory, Kevan and Scott are all trained in the use of the Kolbe Index A assessment, the only test in the world that measures the instinctual, or conative, part of the mind, and have made the assessment a corner stone of their consulting business.
We believe in servant leadership.
Kevan, Cory and Scott are huge believers that the role of a leader is not necessarily to lead the way, but rather to serve those who they are responsible for. This people centred approach, called servant leadership, aims to shift the way that our leaders look at their responsibility for those they are accountable for. With identified characteristics of the model such as listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, and stewardship, the servant leader focuses their efforts on building a strong commitment to the growth of others, while also building community.
Affective Consulting Partners have been trained in the principles, practices and philosophies of Servant Leadership through the Robert K. Greenleaf Academy of Servant Leadership, and are able to work with the leadership team in your organization to begin to implement these disciplines within your work environment. We offer a number of different possibilities for you to consider, and are more than willing to develop a customized approach for you and your team if need be.
