We get you.

Farm Credit Canada is one of the strongest brands in the country- a company with strong organizational roots. FCC prides itself as being a partner to hard working farmers and their families, a neighbour in our communities and a socially-conscious business leader who shows the way for other organizations across the world.

But you didn't get there by luck. You got there on a belief. A belief that the people you serve are the only thing that matters. You have built an entire organizational culture around the concept, and those who work for your organization are some of the most passionate employees in Canada. Why? Because they care about the people they serve. And you care about them- as employees as well as people.

As a team that is responsible for the protection and development and communication of the corporate FCC brand, your job is not an easy task. But you also understand something that others don't seem to understand - your people are your strength.

They are at the core of the FCC brand.

What you told us.

We have had the distinct pleasure of working with you and your team in the past, delivering our custom built Kolbe workshop. From what we can tell, you liked what you saw, but now you are wondering what's next?

We've talked with you about the Affective Consulting philosophy of leadership- First you need to lead yourself, and then you can lead others. You are interested in learning more about our servant leadership philosophy and wonder if there is an opportunity to build upon the Kolbe lessons your team has learned, and take your team's abilities to a new level through a servant leadership approach.

We can help with that.

This is an exciting opportunity to help your team connect the dots between self-awareness and team cohesiveness, and extend what you have learned about yourselves to make a difference with your customers and your clients. We believe that servant leadership is the key to not only creating a team environment that is built on trust, understanding and empathy towards others, but instills strong values of personal accountability and a desire to grow as individuals and as a team.

About us.

In case you forgot - we're a small boutique leadership firm. You're welcome! ;-)

Our belief is that there is no single solution or model that can be used to solve every issue. One size does not fit all; one size fits one.

working with a boutique local firm like the guys at Affective Consulting offered better personal customer service, easy accessibility and an opportunity to meet and know the people behind the service.
— Janson Anderson, Director, Customer Programs at SaskPower

We leverage the strengths of each of our partners to work with our clients using small teams that allow our approach to be extremely adaptive and customizable to the needs of the people we are seeking to serve. We involve our clients as partners in the process from day one, helping us truly understand their business. We believe in an individualized, person-centered approach that puts people at the center of our design, and helps transform our client’s organization.

Our design approach includes a strong focus on follow-up. We believe that one of the greatest areas where consultants fall down is the traditional practice of moving on before the desired outcome has been achieved. The boutique approach we have taken, is to build-in a small amount of post-development consulting time, so that we can ensure that what we have intended to deliver hits the mark and stays on track.

Through the use of this approach, we begin to establish organizational trust, understanding and the belief that everyone truly matters within the design of the business.

Our workshops are fun. Really, really fun.

We work extremely hard to build fun workshops. We find when people are having fun, they stay engaged, and when they are engaged- they learn. Our sessions are built with a high level of interactivity, examples, stories and lots and lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.

We make each session different, building in elements that are meant to engage individuals based on their field of work, as well as what we know about the team through consultation with their leadership.

We have gotten to know the Content Marketing & Social Media team at FCC through our Kolbe Team Building Session, and think that we know what makes them tick. We'll leverage some of that spirit and understanding to build a great event that will continue to build on the learnings from our last session, but also give the team some things to work towards for the future.

Our belief in Servant Leadership.

We believe that organizations that create environments that are built on trust, caring for others and personal accountability are also better performing organizations. We'll prove it to you.

There isn’t a policy in any organization that says you can’t care for your people. It doesn’t exist
— We said that

Since we started consulting, we have been chasing the idea that there is a better way to lead people. A way that places the value of people at the centre and allows leaders to be vulnerable, empathetic and authentic.

It wasn't until we came across the Servant Leadership model developed by Robert K Greenleaf that we knew we'd finally found what we were looking for. Servant Leadership philosophy is not something new, in fact it has been around for nearly 50 years. The term "Servant Leadership" was coined by Robert Greenleaf in a 1970 essay he published entitled "The Servant as a Leader".  This timeless approach to leadership brings people back into the forefront, and presents a model that allows the leader to be themselves- to care for the people that he or she has the ultimate responsibility for.

Affective Consulting partners have been trained in the principles, practices and philosophies of Servant Leadership through the Robert K. Greenleaf Academy of Servant Leadership, and are able to work with the leadership team in your organization to begin to implement these disciplines within your work environment. We offer a number of different possibilities for you to consider, and are more than willing to develop a customized approach for you and your team if need be.

FCC and Servant Leadership are a perfect match.

The beliefs and values are already prevalent in your organizational culture- you can see it in the way that you work with your clients. All that is needed is a greater understanding of the principles that can guide team, organization and personal growth through an individual accountability to serving others. Acting with compassion and empathy in an intentional way opens the doors to amazing personal and organizational results, and the FCC Content Marketing & Social Media team can lead the entire organization in setting a leadership standard for themselves and others through a re-wired way of thinking about who and why we serve.

Session Outline

Servant Leadership Introduction

Affective Consultant partners (Kevan, Scott and Cory) will introduce the Content Marketing & Social Media Team how to improve personal and team leadership through a servant leader approach that puts people first. We'll share a brief overview of the theory, it's roots and how it's teachings have advanced some of the worlds most beloved brands.

The 5 core servant leadership beliefs.

We've developed 5 core beliefs that we have used to share a high level overview of the servant leadership philosophy, and we will share with your team as part of the central portion of the presentation. Each belief will be shared as part of an interactive and fun session, including real business examples and interactive team building activities to demonstrate their value.

The 5 core beliefs are:

It's not about you - but it's all about you - you can't lead others until you lead yourself,

Everybody matters- the value of community and inclusion

Aim for the heart, not the head- the importance of leading with empathy, kindness and active listening

Lead for the 95% - build your organization for those who you  can serve, not those you can't

Be intentional- acting with kindness, and taking action with others in mind is what transforms leaders into servant leaders.

Wrap-up

We will wrap up the session with a re-cap of the session, as well as a discussion with the team as to how the Content Marketing & Social Media Department may be able to take action to implement many of the beliefs that they have learned of during the session.

Follow-up

Each workshop session includes up to 5 hours of follow-up consulting available to our clients, at no charge.

Option 2: Servant Leadership Primer and Post- Session Team Building Activity

$4,500+GST

4 hours

Overview

This offering includes the Servant Leadership Primer listed above, but also incorporates an additional team building activity to conclude the half day session.

Team Building Activities

When working with past clients, we have been asked to organize team building activities that promote teamwork and engagement of team members through a fun, hands on activity. We are happy to work with you to organize an event that can be held on-site or another location.

Events in the past have included an Amazing Race or scavenger hunt, concluding at a local restaurant where employees gather close to the end of the day to celebrate the conclusion of the session. A team exercise called "the missing piece" that teaches employees to work together and negotiate mutually beneficial relationships through a puzzle building competition and "bridge building" exercises that promote teamwork, ingenuity and storytelling through the development of a model bridge made of newspaper, tape and string.

We are happy to re-create one of these activities for you and your team, or work with you to develop another idea that may help build a greater teamwork within the FCC Content Marketing & Social Media Team.
