We get you.

Orange Tree Living is not just a building, its a way of looking at the world differently. Its a proof of concept that validates the idea that when you treat people with kindness, empathy and compassion, they can continue to grow and develop with full hearts and dignity- no matter what stage of life they are in.

By throwing open your doors to all people, you create a culture of true inclusion- one where everyone is valued for the unique person they are. It's through this belief that people feel a part of something bigger than themselves. They feel special.

You see the opportunity to develop your community through a higher standard of service - one that is focused on raising the bar for personal care, and looking at your obligation to your customers through a hospitality lens rather than one that is institutionally driven.

What we heard.

Your passion for service is deeply ingrained in your mission, vision and values. Yet somehow, this vision isn't translating into the desired cultural state with your people. Somewhere within the organization there exists a disconnect between expectation and execution.

Unfortunately, with the organization still in a "start-up" state, the opportunity for existing staff to evaluate, measure and alter the current course of action, the core messaging of the mission and vision of Orange Tree begins to drift for the employee base, and the expectations of the client begins to be inconsistent.

An organization's culture is a critical part of the success of an organization, and best practice shows that an organization's culture becomes firmly established in the first year of operation.

There is a need for Orange Tree to act quickly to re-set the expectation before a lesser than desired culture is set within the organization.

The second floor is a microcosm of that culture.

From what we understand, there are concerns about the culture being created on the second floor of Orange Tree Living- a spot where both the level of care and expectation of service is at it's highest. Even though those who have been hired to deliver that care are people who believe what Orange Tree believes, their actions don't match their intentions.

We can help with that.

We believe that an organizational culture, when built with a strong sense of purpose and intentionality, can be your greatest advantage to ensuring that people remain highly engaged, aware of your expectations and wholly invested in the positive outcomes of the vision you have for Orange Tree Village.

The truth is whether its a good corporate culture or a bad one- you know one instantly when you see it. We want to make sure that Orange Tree Village has one of the best corporate cultures alive, no matter what the industry.

Creating an aCulture

Affective Consulting leverages an innovative approach to culture-impacting design, focusing on a comprehensive 4 level process that helps your organization develop the type of culture your organization can point to as increaing your people engagement, but also ensure that the cultural norms stick.

With years of experience within the culture development and integration field, we believe that there are four key components to developing a strong and sustainable culture, including clarifying expectations, instilling capacity for cultural change, buidling momentum and fostering committment of a new or existing culture.

Beyond the creation of structure and process for defining and guiding your organizational culture comes the affective support of the culture itself. This is what we call aCulture.

Creating an understanding of the impact of the small and affective side of a workforce culture can sometimes bring greater benefits to an organization than any policy or process that you may have spent years developing.  Affective Consulting can work with your leaders to ensure that there is an emotional connection to your cultural beliefs to ensure you actions aren't betraying your cultural principles.

A little about us.

We're a small boutique leadership firm. You're welcome! ;-)

Our belief is that there is no single solution or model that can be used to solve every issue. One size does not fit all; one size fits one.

Working with a boutique local firm like the guys at Affective Consulting offered better personal customer service, easy accessibility and an opportunity to meet and know the people behind the service.

We leverage the strengths of each of our partners to work with our clients using small teams that allow our approach to be extremely adaptive and customizable to the needs of the people we are seeking to serve. We involve our clients as partners in the process from day one, helping us truly understand their business. We believe in an individualized, person-centered approach that puts people at the center of our design, and helps transform our client’s organization.

Our design approach includes a strong focus on follow-up. We believe that one of the greatest areas where consultants fall down is the traditional practice of moving on before the desired outcome has been achieved. The boutique approach we have taken, is to build-in a small amount of post-development consulting time, so that we can ensure that what we have intended to deliver hits the mark and stays on track.

Through the use of this approach, we begin to establish organizational                                                                                                                                  trust, understanding and the belief that everyone truly matters within                                                                                                                                    the design of the business.

We geek out on brain stuff.

We have dedicated ourselves to creating a greater understanding of what makes people tick.

Although we are all different as people, we all have things that drive us.

Cognitive (1).png

There are three parts to the human mind- the cognitive (which manages your knowledge and experiences), your affective (which controls your emotional being) and your conative (a lesser known part of the brain, which measures your instinctual behaviour, as well as the values and beliefs that drive your motivations).

Each of these parts of your brain play a significant part in how you think, feel and act, and when all three are in a state of engagement, people are capable of amazing things.

Cory, Kevan and Scott are all trained in the use of the Kolbe Index A assessment, the only test in the world that measures the instinctual, or                                                                                                                                 conative, part of the mind, and have made the assessment a corner                                                                                                                                       stone of their consulting business.
